When I say "you" in that instance...I mean you the player
A collective you being put into that situation
As far as the bench situation. I understand humans make mistakes. To write someone off after not having complete and utter focus on the game (a game which they get sparse playing time) is not an unforgivable offense. Especially for a freshman.
You sit down with the kid and you address it. The old school way of bloodshot eyes, my way or the highway, vein-popping you better be focused threat:
1) isnt effective
2) is slowly taking its last breaths in the sporting world, thankfully
Open communication and addressing issues of both parties is the way to go.
He made a mistake. It clearly didnt hurt him, he wound up scoring 11 points that game and played great.
